wwgd (what would gears do) need help

I have an 02 2wd edge (3.0), i have 33x12.50 tires. After i put the tires on my truck it struggles to get up hills and burns crazy amounts of gas. If install gears will they
1.) help gas mileage?

2.) stop the truck from struggling while climbing hills?

any input will be greatly appreciated

1. yes

2. yes

to determine what gear ratio will get you close to stock use this formula:
new tire size / old tire size x stock gear ratio

look in the axle code sticky to see what gears you have stock...
