drivers side cv axle

My cv axle is spitting grease all over but looking at it there is no tear in it it is just coming out of the end under the metal ring holding it on the hub. Any one have ne ideas I mean can I tighten it some how or do I need to replace the damn thing? And If I do how hard is it to replace? Oh yeah it is making a wierd noise at slow speeds kind of a clicking or poping.

if its been leaking out for a while chances are water got in as well. once you run out of grease, CVs are usually shot. you can get some cheap ones at a junkyard.

well if my cv axle was messed up i would take the expense of buying one that i knew was in good condition rather than buy one from a junkyard and do all of that work and hope it was useable

I would definately not buy one from a junk yard. You might as well do it right the first time.

i always get them from the junk yard, if they are sealed well there is absolutely no reason why you should worry. not to mention there is like a 60 dollar price difference and i can swap cvs in like 20 minutes now because I break so many...
