axle

its been a long time since i last posted.
will the rear axle out of an 99 explorer work on a 04 ranger
im hoping its a 8.8 and it had disk brakes on the rear.

also is it safe to weld on an axle housing
i would have to do that to get the shocks to work.

HAve you read the how-to's on the expo axle swap? Welding is required. It is not a direct bolt in.




ALL 95+ Expo rear ends are 8.8's. Not all are 31spline, i think it's just the V8 Models. All others are 28spline.

negative....all exploder axles will be 31 spline......only the ranger came with a 28 spline 8.8 in a narrow width

^^JY i was at, their axle tech said some v6's have 28spline, all v8's have 31s, all have discs. If what you said was true, that REALLY opens my search for my axle.

what ull need to know about a 8.8, the tech at the junkyard was quiet simply wrong, happy hunting now with ur new correct information, shouldnt be hard to find your axle now LOL

i just read it now all i have to do is pull the axles and get someone to help me.

exactly what is pinion angle?
btw the axle is and 8.8 31 spline with 3.73.
i am going to do it just the matter of money and time.
best thing is the axle is free.
