How to monitor a network?

I've got a unique situation and since there are a few of you on here that are in the IT business, I'd like your input.

Here's the situation. You have a home computer network with LAN and WiFi connections. All computers are hooked through a single router. You have access to only one desktop computer and you have access to the router.

Is it possible to monitor all internet traffic on the other computers WITHOUT touching the other computers. Meaning, you cannot install software on the other computers or change them in any way.

Here's why I ask:

My neighbor is not computer oriented at all. He has three kids and each kid has there own laptop and there own desktop. Right now, all the kids computers are password protected by the windows password. So he does not have direct access to the computers unless he consults with his kids to give him access. I want to set up his computer to monitor all internet traffic so he can know what his kids are doing online....and I don't want to tip off the kids in ANY way, and give them a chance to cover any tracks.

Obviously, this is not the ideal situation. The guy just doesn't know anything about computers and never bothered to setup any insurance when giving the computers to his kids.

I know how to monitor computers, but it requires installing software on the kids computers. I want to try and do it without accessing the kids computers

Thanks for any info.

I don't know, it seems like you would have to install a program on the computer to track what sites. There are ways to find out what the user password is on a computer account...

Usually starting a computer in safe mode allows access to a "administrator" account with no password so you could install something, but even then, I don't know if that'd work the way you want.
