question about TYC taillights for 2004 (anyone who has them please read)

These are on ebay:

TYC tail-lights

There seem to be three slots for lights...while there are only two lights. What are the three? I know the red is the brake/rear lights. Is the top the turn signal and the bottom reverse? Anyone who has these please let me know thanks.

I have an 04.

i used to have those exact same tails in CF, not chrome, until someone stole them off my truck a little over a month ago...but yeah i really liked those tails. The big middle lense is for the stock brake/running/signal light and the bottom lense is for the reverse like you are saying. The tails come with a plug for the top lense if you dont want to use it. I on the other hand wanted the lights fully functional so i tapped in another reverse socket with a RED bulb into the signal/brake light wire so that it was functional. So then the top lense was just like the middle lense minus the running light function....makes breaking and signaling more noticable to traffic around you...a benefit IMO.

I have the same thing in black housing. I did the same wiring as scallion02edge mentioned. I put a red led bulb in the top and tapped into the wiring from the center bulb for brake/turn. In the bottom space for the backup lights I took the plug that was in the top location and drilled a hole in it and glued in a headlight bulb, and put it in the bottom space, it really lights up compared to the stock low voltage bulbs and have no problem with it.

My Reverse light wouldnt fit into the bottom so I had to wire my reverse to the top unfortunately because the clip wouldnt fit into where the reverse is supposed to go on the bottom for some reason. But I have those in CF and they look awesome.

Yeah i forgot that i did have to modify the lights to get the reverse to fit in the bottom hole...not hard at all. Just dremel or file the keying to match the bulb housing keying of the reverse socket.

Stock reverse socket is a 2 key design...on those TYC's in the bottom lense its a 3 key design. Just file out the correct bridge on the tail light housing and its now a 2 key design with a perfect fit for the reverse light! You can tell which bridge to file out by comparing the keying from the two parts.
