Protection for the lower door area?

What do you guys use to protect the lower door area and keep road grime from sticking like concrete? Is there a product out there for this kind of thing?

My lower doors were really rusted out on the inside when I got my 2000 Ranger but luckily it had not rusted through, but it had start near the bottom. I used aluminum siding silicone sealant to fill in the rusted out inside after I used a wire brush to get the big stuff off and primed the whole deal. I probably should have done it the right way and Bondoed but I'm cheap. To guard the seal I used self adhesive plastic to seal cover up my patch job. As far as the outside of the door. Uhhh, maybe liquid nail some diamond plated steel sheets to the bottom of the doors. That would look BA.

I work at 3M and we make a clear thick over laminate called PUL wit some numbers after it. Its mostly used on RVs to protect the bottom rockers from road grim and stuff. But it is one of the more expensive films we make so i would check on the price and sttuff. U cant even see it unless ur up close on it its pretty neat stuff

^^ sounds like the stuff that was on the edge of the rear bumper and bed corners of my 01. Don't know if Ford still puts that on their Rangers, but it eventually turns yellowish and starts to peel off. The stuff of the bed corners is still o.k, but the stuff on the bumper I removed.

Sounds like good stuff to have covering the rocker panels though.
