Icon5 06+ mirror install on pre 06

I tried searching, but had no luck. I want to say I remember someone saying you had to do some kind of modding to make the 06+ mirrors fit on the pre 06 trucks. Is that the case or is it strait bolt on?

Just for any one interested it is worth the cost to go with OEM ones. The eBay ones are junk!!!

That’s where I was going but I didn’t want to come right out with it; I am learning sensitivity communications or so I am told.

Luck with it and post afterwards.

If it was me go new, a new set of powered one from an On-Line Ford Parts Dealer are approximately $75/ea.

luck

Drilling, I would just use a step drill til you get the right sized hole.. That's what I did with mine, and worked out well.

Yes, I didn’t think of that and was wondering how to do it.
I don’t own a step bit but have been thinking about getting them.
Great idea.

Harbor sells a 3-piece set that's great for sheet metal and stuff up to 1/4" and aluminum... I've got one set right now, and usually buy a set a year, they're cheap so they break, but serve their purpose.

Yeah and the 3-pack is a variety of different sizes, it's nice! They're usually $15 but go on sale about once every 2 months for $10

This is what we're talking about:

- Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

I was there 2 weekends ago and they were for sale, don't know if they still are or not.

You can get the caps in black. those would be easier to paint.

how about some pics....

once you drill, you'll need to put washers on the backside between the inside of the door and the nut.

You can drill or you can make it straight up stock-like. The way you do that is unscrew the studs off the mirror. Use your dremel or something similar to make the 'posts' the studs screw into shorter. You need to make them just like your stockers in 'post' height/depth, however you wanna look at it. That's the difference between 05 and 06 mirrors...the 'post' height. Then thread the studs back in, and bolt on the mirror just like stock. I've never done it but supposedly people have done it this route before.

Could you swap the posts from the stock mirrors and the 06s?
