Headlight mod Question

so i have been thinking about doing the headlight mod on my truck, and was thinking, would it be a good idea to use a heat gun to melt the glue or use the oven? the only thing i can think of is that the heat gun would be too direct and warp the light. where as the oven would heat it slowly and uniformly.

what are your thoughts?

I've only done it with the oven. Whatever you choose do to it with, just keep the heat low and take your time. having a big, wide screwdriver will help with seperating the lenses also. I was using a small driver and i couldn't get it, but I got a bigger one and it came right apart!

from what i hear start at 150 and bum up 15 degree increments and 10 every 10 minutes until you can pry them apart. also a wide screw driver or chisel sounds like the tool for rthe job to pry them apart.

Painted background area to give the factory headlights a different look. Often done in black or color matched:

Sorry don't remember to be honest. Took awhile, but I think it took longer than it should have.

I followed the instructions in the How-to and used 200F on the headlamps for 15 minutes. I separated them partially but the glue cooled enough to get stuck again. So I repeated for 10 more minutes and got them apart.

The factory 06/07 corners got 190F, heated twice for 10 minutes to separate.
