Just bought a used cargo basket with the extender. I plan on sanding it then painting it flat black, and maybe making a few modifications. But before all that I am looking for advice on how to mount it. My cap is an A.R.E Contour III and currently doesn't have any roof rack system set up. I don't want to mount the basket on roof rack cross bars, not a fan of the look. I would like to mount it via fixed mounts to the top of the cap. Not sure if I can go buy something to do this or if I need to make something custom so I am looking for some advice.


Basket looks like this and comes with the mounts for roof rack crossbars:
