Dealer decal removal

Any suggestions? I fear using a razor blade for possibly etching a nice edge of blade scratch into the paint. This is the little vinyl decal some dealers put on the tailgate. Can I use Goo Gone or similar product? Or would my best bet be to 1-by-1 remove each vinyl letter, using the point on a razor blade to start the letter, and then clean up the residue with alcohol or goo gone?

I hate when dealers do that. It's so tacky. But yeah, try goo gone and a CC, it should work.

I used My finger nail and some time. Then when I was done a little Rubbing alcohol on a rag will get any residue off, and be sure to wax that spot as the alcohol willl also take that off. It takes about ten minutes. I don't trust razor blades or putty knifes.

Just take your moms hair dryer and use that to get the sticker nice and hot, then you can just peel it off yourself.

A blow dryer works really good. Becareful not to use any chemical to potent or you will smeer your clear coat or paint.

I started them w/ the razor blade.. then followed up w/ some goo-be-gone junk. Worked on the FX4 stickers on the bedsides too..

Yikes. You guys are crazy with the goo-gone and razors.

Save yourself some time and use a heat gun/blow dryer. Clean it up with denatured alcohol.

Too bad my mom lives in NY (~3000 miles away) and I lack a girlfriend. Broke at the moment to afford just randomly buying a blow drier. The few female friends I have might think I'm slightly odd, but oh well. They probably already do anyhow given I have about 40 snakes and lizards.

BTW, thanks for the ideas guys. And Colin...you didn't?!!! Out of all the flare/bling that could be put on a truck I think the FX4 Level II stickers are at least tolerable to leave on.

Not sure I follow you.. Do you like the LII stickers, or not? I hate them... So yup, I most certianly did.

First 'mod' I did.. the ink was barely dry on the purchase & sale agreement when I did..

Although I almost find Bob's blue decals worthy.. almost..

just get a 3 dollar can of this stuff called sticker shock from autozone or advanced auto parts. All you have to do is spray it on then it will come right off with your finger nail. i have used it to remove decals, pin striping, and bumper stickers.
