3" body lift mods...

So I recently have been promoted at work and got a good raise. I am definitely getting my 3" body lift at the end of this week. I need some opinions tho on some of the other things.

First off, I NEED new shocks. Any suggestions on that?

Secondly, I want to run 35x11x15 or maybe 35x12x15 . If I do that, would I have to cut the finders? I want to run maybe all terrain instead of mudd terrain, IDK still all depends. I want some mean tires, kind of like I have now. But I drive alot and its my daily so I am still up in the air.

Any suggestions would help and would be greatly appreciated!

your gonna really have to crank the t-bars to run 35's, and trimming is a possibility. For shocks, i say get bilstein's

no I NEED shocks. With or without the body lift. LoL. Mine are just about wore out!

I was talking to Jared, and I think I will stick with 33s. Much easier. I already have my T-bars cranked ALOT to run the 33x11.5 tires. I dont want to crank much more. And I am not too sure about the cutting of the fenders either. sigh.

Won't you need new gears to run 35's? Or are you already regeared?

if you have the 4.0 you prolly have 3.73 gears....if you run 33x12.5x15's then you shouldn't waste the money to regear......now when you go to a suspension lift and the body lift and run 35's then you should regear, trust me mine isn't horrible, it is driveable, but i need to regear

i am telling you that if you go with 35's and dont regear you will HATE IT!! any little hill and it is out of overdrive....and up a long hill your tranny will run really hot!!!! besides a body lift and a torsion bar crank will not clear 35's she can flat forget that thought.....it will take a suspension lift and a body lift to clear 35's

she can regear down the line, theres no law stating she needs the regear now.

she might have to trim a little but a good trim job and nobody will even notice. i assume since she said 33x11.50s she has 285/75r16s which are most of the time around the actual 33 inch mark. whereas the huge majority of tire makers 35x12.50 tires are more toward 34.5s. little trim and shell be fine. why would she want to do a BL if she could already fit teh 33s anyway?

I have a 3.0. I know I will have a hard time turning 35s but on the other hand I live in the land of the flat which is AKA Florida! haha

For sure I know with a T-bar crank and a 3" b/l I can fit 35s but I will have to trim up the fenders a bit. I dont want to do all that work.

I have decided to officially take Gils advice and go with bilstein shocks. As for tires I think I am going to stick with 33x12.5x15 on 15x8. Easiest. Cheaper. Still looks awesome! :)

Or you could sweet talk Gil into building you a custom bumper to clear the tires

You can fit the 35's on your truck with just a little trimming. Just ask Ranger1.

Yep, agreed.

33x12.50x15's. Even consider a 15x10 rim, difference in price is only a few bucks, really.

By the way, truck looks good. Will look better with this upcoming mod.

You don't have 4'10's for gears? Weird.

I say go with the 33x12.50s and some bilstien 5100s or 5150s I know that the 3.0 is only slowed down a little by my 31s, but it might be bogged down by them 33s. Might want to plan a tuner and some power mods down the road.

If she's a 4x4 EDGE, it is weird.

But if she's not an EDGE, then 3.73s are stock. IIRC 4.10s didn't start going into XLTs until the FX4s came out, and I believe that's just for the Level IIs.

Those suggesting to run 35s without regearing soon might want to see what happened to Jared's 03 Level II as a result. I believe his cam shaft snapped!! And, should memory serve me right, it happened twice?

her truck is a 2000 4.0L OHV...

jared also wheeled his truck far more then 99% of the members on this site and also that was post supercharger that doest effect things..and it was his output shaft for his transmission...

Had a feeling it was his output, but said cam shaft instead. Oh well. I'm sure the supercharger didn't help, but even then he was a 4.0 and still snapped that shaft like a twig. Right now I'm even tossing the idea about 35s, but after seeing what happened to him I can guarantee you I won't be popping 35s on until I can afford to regear. There's certain mods you do in conjunction with one another and 35s + regearing is one of them in my opinion.

being the fact that we have 3 member off hand running 35's and 4.10's, one just regeared you will be fine. Bill(04lvl2) is doing it manual too, Mark(01ranger4x4xlt what not), and Zach(Zabeard he just regeared to 4.56) and they all where fine and doing fine still i 100% bank his problems on the supercharger and his love of climbing rocks like crazy...

naw, thats bs. that was all because of the supercharger. he wheeled some but not like a crap ton. he just dorve like a bat out of hell EVERYWHERE. doing burnouts all the time.

add that abuse too 300+ HP and guess what happens. sure the 35s AIDED in it, but you tell me how many rangers on 4.10s and 35s snapped output shafts and Ill count em on one finger...
