BakFlip G2 Tonneau folding cover

I just ordered a BakFlip G2 tonneau cover. I know there were problems with the first version of this, it sounds like they corrected or made better with the second version (G2).

Does anyone have one? I wanted a hard cover that would lock and not need a key. I opted for this cover because the owner of Bak seems to be caring about his customers and any problems they have with his products.

Anyways, when I get it installed, I'll get some pictures for everyone.

I guess this means no one has it :-)

Well, I do now. I got it via Fedex the other day. Been working 3rd shift this week so haven't had much of a chance to do anything about installing it.

If anyone does have this installed, please let me know. I don't think my kit came with the shims and Bak says the Ranger requires them, so I need to know if it does or not because I have seen conflicting reports. If I do need them, I'll just get Bak to ship me a pack.

Correct. It automatically latches to the tracks installed on the side bed rails, underneath the cover there are pulls on both sides you can use to unlatch and fold.

You need to get the tailgate locking handle and install it for it to be completely secure, of course.

On another note, I test fitted it today, but I need to get the shims from Bak to put between the bed rail and the track so the cover will latch correctly (or at all). They are a very helpful company too. I just called them, told them I need the shims and didn't get them in my package, they are sending them out free of charge.

Since I have to take it apart again to put them shims on when they come in, I will get some pictures of the install. It literally took less than a half hour to install. If I ever need to take the cover off, it's just two bolts.

Although this thread is over a month old, I'm pulling it up because I'm curious about this tonneau cover. Tekkitan have you installed this and have picture? Seems like an awesome idea for a tonneau cover.

I do have it installed. I haven't gotten any pictures because I am a huge slacker. I am loving the cover so far. For it to fit though, I had to remove the tailgate protector (so now it's just bare). I plan on getting some paint on bed liner for it to fix that. The other minor issue I have is I have no where to put the drain tubes. My liner has no drain holes (thanks Ford) and the only holes are for hooking down loads. I may have to drill my liner to put the tubes somewhere so water doesn't just drain into the bed.

I will be working on the truck more tomorrow, if I remember I will grab some pics.

Well if anyone is interested in my cover, it's for sale haha. Almost brand new. Reason? Hydroplaned into a median, frame twist and heavy exterior damage = goodbye truck. Luckily the cover didn't get damaged though :)

hahaha alright alright.

dave, i got your PMs and will get some pictures of the cover this week/weekend for you. i was thinking of asking for $500 since it is a new cover (bought in march) and besides one plastic clip broken (holds the bar that holds the cover in the upright position) is in excellent condition.

Actually, I went the other way. I got a 2003 Tahoe with a 5.3L V8. I have an 87 Camaro so I figured it might be better if I keep it all similar :-)

Yes I am ok. I bruised my leg on my radio that flew out of the dash and was hanging, and sore. Airbags deployed and everything. I just needed to get something with some weight in the back and what better than a V8 SUV that weighs 7000lbs. I didn't really find any Explorers or Expeditions in my area that I liked unfortunately. Plus the Tahoe was about $5k lower than bluebook.

I sent pics to dave (finally), just waiting for him to respond. If I don't hear back from him, I will post the cover in the classifieds.
