crap 06 taillights wont fit my 2000 :(

Hey guys thought I would post about this here. I just recently bought some 06-07 taillights on eBay from the seller partsaction(power seller with near perfect record). The lights themselves seem to be made by Depo auto lamp. Anyways I went to install them on my 2000 ranger which has a 2 bulb setup so that isn't an issue and find out they dont fit :(

The biggest issue is that for some reason the screw holes wont line up and secondly the bulb sockets wont fit the holes to twist them into the lights. I will be contacting the seller in hopes of a refund. Anyways I thought i would warn you all as now there may be some lights out there that wont fit our trucks. Also wondering if anyone else has had these issues?

Yeah thats sort of a last resort anyways and I'm not sure they would even offer a return. Cant ever hurt to ask though What I wonder is if it would even fit on an 06 easily.

I'm thinking that the screw 4 screw holes to fasten it to the body wouldn't be any different. I just cant get them quite aligned perfectly enough to get the screws in on my 2000, particularly the ones were the tailgate shuts. Wish i had an 06 truck to test them on LOL.

OK. ALL aftermarket tails i've delt with, the inside screw holes(drop tailgate) have always been off from what was on the truck. Just drive some screws in there....and it'll work just fine. The APC tails on my little bro's truck were like that too....i drove the screws in and 4 years later, the tails are still on the truck. All the screw holes punched into the bed are in the same location no matter what year truck. all tails are interchangable. If you want it perfect, should've bought OEM FORD ones.

'99 and older rangers are 3 bulb taillamps. '00 and up are 2 bulb taillamps. MANY MANY people have converted to newer 2 bulb lamps....There's many threads talking about it.

You can splice off your trailer harness. You can eliminate the back up lamp, and just run the signal bulb in that socket w/ an amber bulb or red bulb. There's other ways to do it too....to convert to a 2bulb lamp.

well I managed to make them fit on there..had to do some major coaxing and expand my holes in the tailgate a bit thought. Ah well on now :)

Now that i have them the only thing I don't like about them is the stock bulbs look kind of odd through the clear plastic. May need to do an led conversion sometime in the future
