Toolbox in a stepside.

First off I got my christmas present early. WOOT!! I got the Deep cross box from UWS, and I was wondering how you guys secured it. Did you use the supplied "J" hooks or did you drill the rails and put bolts in? I'm not sure what is under the plastic thing on my truck. I dunno if it is glass or metal.

Truck is a 2002 stepside 4x4

Thanks guys.

I threw the J bolts away & drilled through the box, rails, etc & used galvanized carriage bolts.
I filed the holes through the bed rails square to hold the square portion of the bolt.
If anybody tries to unbolt the box from inside the bed, all they see are a bunch of round carriage bolt heads, no way to get a wrench around it to loosen it up.
Also used large fender washers inside the box as well as locking nuts & double nuts.
I cut the bolts off & rounded the exposed ends to prevent unwanted scrapes when I'm digging around in the box.
If somebody wants my tool box, they'd have an easier time taking the entire bed off the truck.

i just drilled holes in my bed rails and put bolts in and it would take some work getting them out if someone tried to steal it. they would have to be able to get there hands in my box somehow since i keep it locked all the time and it's so hard to get your hands underneath the rails.

It's metal. Only the fenders are fiberglass. The inner walls and floor are metal.
