I just got my hood insulation and thought it would be a lot bigger.

I think mine covers 90% of the under-hood.

My 03 had a bigger one. It was hanging down from getting wet while offroading so I tore it out.

04+ are half covered. May depend on the engine...but all the 04+'s i've seen, are half covered just as the OP's pic.

03 and older are fully covered(at least the powerdomes). The 'flat' hoods, I dont really know.

I wish mine was like that, my '03 hood liner covers the whole underneath except for the edges. I'm going to fix that though

My 04 was fully covered. Maybe it was another one of those random things ford did where 1/2 got it and 1/2 didn't

it's to obsorb the heat from the engine so it won't melt the paint.

that's cool but thats what its for, doesn't mean it will happen, Ford just wanted to cover their butts just incase it happens and they have to repaint the hood, say 1,200 of the however many rangers was made had this problem a year at about 500bucks to repaint the hood, that's alot of money, why would it be for sound dampening?
