How can I put holes in the side of the Bed?

How can I put holes in the side of the Bed?
I know use a drill… LoL.
I have my Steppie Bed, I have OEM EDGE Fender Flares; I want to put the two together.
I was thinking, IF I put enough Masking Tape to cover the area the Flares would sit on, then tape the Flare in position to make sure it looks like I want it to.
Trace the outline of the flare and mark the locations of the OEM Mounting Holes.
The distance from the edge can b figured after the flares are removed.
Do you think this will work to get the Flares mounted to the Bed.
To tell you the truth I am a little nervous, if I screw up then I have a Bed Side with a bunch holes and, well a screwed up mess.
Anyone with any ideas on how to do an OEM Looking Job putting the Flares on the Fiber Fenders of the Steppie ?
Please any comment…
Thanks

line it how you want it, outline the flare with painter's tape on the fender, remove flare. Grease/peanut butter, something that will wipe off and is colored and sticky to the bolts/pins/whatever that holds the flare on, then set the flare against the truck and presto! The grease/peanut butter will show you approximately where to drill at to aid in your measurements.

All good ideas LoL…
The mounting points are hidden and they are push in OEM Plastic Pins.
The EDGE Flares fit the contours perfectly, just a matter of finding out where to drill for the push pins.
I was going to try the 3M Tape but these flares have a lip so the tape would have to have some foam added to cover the depth of the lip.
Thanks

The grease/peanut butter was what i was thinking.
Tape the entire area the flare covers, and a little on the outside. Trace your flare to the tape, then take some craft paint or something like that (something that dries fast but is washable), dab it on the posts for the pins, then stick it up on the fender. It will leave you the right spots to drill on the tape. Drill thru the tape. Start really small, since I'm not sure how great center punching fiberglass would be. Start with a small drill bit (at a really low speed, to prevent walking), then kick up to the right size bit going thru the same hole you just drilled.
That's how I figured I would do it, if I can ever get ahold of some Torch Red Edge flares.

Nat,
There is a set of four, E4 RED Flares from an ’02 or ’03 EDGE in a NH JY; the one I posted about and the one 99offroadrngr got his hood from.
I was thinking along the lines of masking tape, I will need to find a paint or marking material that doesn’t dry too fast but that should work.
p.c., You know where they are go get’um.

Wouldn't using 3M double sided tape cover the depth of the lip? That stuff is stick on both sides of a foam pad basically. Plus, would help keep water out if you did it all over the bottom of the new flare. I liked the idea of using masking tape real wide on your bed, then tracing where you want it to be... and marking where the holes will be... drill 2 holes first, try it out, see how it looks.
