L1224R LED and Niteshade '06+ tails
I got some new tailights finally!!! i got 06+ oem style tails and i ordered a set of l1224r LED's from JP7 (hes a really awesome guy). these bulbs are soooo easy to install and they are really sweet looking i love them. the niteshade isnt really the VHT Niteshade. I got the JDM Tint Spray just for something different. I coulda got niteshade here locally but for some reason i decided to get the JDM spray. it looks really good. it came out a lil darker than i wanted, but the sun was comin down as i was puttin them on. ill have to wait until tomorrow to really see how they look in full sunlight. i took a couple pics of the process...maybe shoulda took some more but you will get the idea lol and i also installed a line of fire(i cheaped out and got the one without reverse lights)
the start of it all
grinded down the new holes (they were square i just made them round so they fit on there better) and used epoxy to keep them on there (couldnt find the JB weld i had but this stuff works just as good)
wired them up to my spare 4 wheeler battery to see how they look
with basement lights on
with basement lights off
now begins the "niteshade"
i taped off the reverse lights and LUCKILY theres a little groove around it so i just used that to cut the tape around the clear lens. then i sprayed 3 VERY VERY light coats.
heres with them on the truck......a little too dark for my liking
parking lights
brake lights
brake and reverse lights
here is my old tails just for comparison
THE END.....please let me know what you think (sorry for some of the pics being blurry...its really windy outside)

I highly suggest the L1224R swap...it's not those (imo) crappy plug-in led's. Mine POPS! instread of gets brighter like the plug ins in the tails. love it...do it. i plan on picking up a few sets to have on stand by for future vehicles. lol.
STILL looking for amber L1224R's...

I agree with STL. The lights look great. Yes, a little dark, but the brightness of the LED compensates for that. How bright are they with just the running light on? If anybobody can't see your yellow truck with LED tails and a line of fire, they are certifiably blind.
Nice work. IMO, I liked your clear tails better, but the new ones are just as sweet. 10 out of 10!
If you want to reduce how dark your lights are, get some laquer thinner, or even just some brake cleaner, and wipe the lenses down until all the paint comes off. Wash them with soap and water and try them and then try again!

The JDM spray...
how does it look? i understand it's got alot of built in gloss in it? dries glossy rather than ugly flat like the VHT stuff.
That JDM stuff...i plan on getting two cans off ebay for some projects. i'm just concerned about how it dries.
would it be possible to take more pics with a non-cell phone camera? and post 'em up or pm them to me?
thanks. shane

When you get the parts in hand it will hit you like a brick. It isn't that hard. The important thing here is that the thread shows how well the LED's work in combination with that dark shade spray. I think people can tell that is leaves a "safe" situation where people can see you stopping, really clearly.
