painting the bumper

painting the bumper
so i have an 01 xlt front bumper, the plastic one with the chrome.
now i have 2 questions
1. if i use adhesion promoter, my base, and some clear to the upper chrome strip...will it be enough? or will it just flake/chip off easy?
2. if i by chance CAN do the chrome strip, can i do the same process to the lower plastic part of the bumper and also get sufficient results? or would i just be better off leaving the chrome the way it is and bedlining the plastic?
now, im not in dire need of wanting to paint the bumper...its just kind of a "i got the stuff, should i try it out?" kinda thing
and
yes, i searched, but couldnt really find the answer i was looking for i guess
and thanks for your input
thanks, randy

even if you are using adhesion promoter, you are still going to have to try and scuff it the best you can, and even then its iffy. also, base coat is usually fairly translucent and expensive, lay a couple coats of high-build primer down and sand it smooth that will it will give you a nice even surface to lay your base and also take care of the sand scratches from scuffing.
