IMO, if your going to sand it down and paint it, why not remove the impact strip and fill it? It wont be that much more work, and it is going to look a hell of alot cleaner.

cant believe i missed this thread! lol!

the airplane is my dads. Its a 2007 Aviat Husky A1-B (kinda hard to miss... it says right on the cowling!). Sweet plane, I'm lucky that my old man lets me fly it sometimes... haha.

As for the wiring, Ive wired up several aux lights, including 4 Hella's on my truck (not on anymore). never had a problem, always worked. Not sure what happened here, but it was late, I didnt have a wire stripper or soldering iron... AND they DID work the first time we tested it out!

Anyway, you ever get new bulbs and get these to work Alan? Get all the half assed connections soldered?

Oh yeah, and you forgot to tell everyone why you puked your guts out mid-install! LMAO

How hard was it to install the valance on your truck? I have been considering doing this for the longest time, and didn't know it was possible.

Thanks. Next time I go to a junk yard, I'm looking for one and all the componets.
