2004 Grille question.

Would a grille from a 2006 up fit my 04 xlt. ?

The reason I ask is that even though they look the same they are listed
04-05 and 06 and up everywhere I look. Why is that?

Looking for any and all advice before I pull the trigger. Thanks.

Places like ebay and amazon have a nasty habit of having various years listed as 'compatible' whether or not it's true. I'm fairly sure 04-11 grilles are interchangeable, although I've never tried it myself.

Take a look on rockauto, maybe cross-reference some part numbers if you can. That should help determine whether or not it'll fit.

Thanks bud.. I found some info in another ranger forum that said that it does work. So I bought it and should be here sometime soon.

I will post pics of my truck with both grilles for future reference.

Thanks for your help.

You're welcome.

Ford generally likes to stick to the same design, hence why the ranger changed so little between 93 and 11, and why it's so easy to swap parts between them.

2004-2011 are completely interchangeable. I ran a 2008 on my 2005 for like 6 months.

What about years prior to '04? Would the '01-03 surround fit my 04? I really like that style and really dislike mine...

No. In 2004, Ford changed the grille design to move more into the hood area, and subsequently modified the ford. If you want an 03 grille, you'll need the hood, grille, and possibly header panel too.

01-03 interchange, 98 and 00 interchange, and 04-11 interchange. Although, if you want something unique, you can pair 98-00 headlights with an 01-03 grille. That's interesting to see.
