I have a plastic box I bought for $50 at Lowes that I have tied into the bed of my "other" truck. I installed it so it would be difficult to remove but you could always fashion an easy removal system. I have rubber coated wire holding it in and wove the wire through the box and to the corner tie downs. Maybe a hook outside the box would allow for easy removal.
The Box does lock
The best way to describe it is a light weight smaller JOB BOX.
This is very similar to what I have

pins have holes in them for clipping them in. pins are not threaded. mine came with no self tapping screws.

I use a plastic tool chest I picked up from home depot. fits right under the tonneau cover and I have a cargo bar that I use to secure it to the front of the bed.
Have another cargo bar with cargo net near the tailgate for easy access to tiedowns, cleaning supplies, etc. It allows me to slide my ski bag into the bed of the truck and secure it to the cargo net so it will not roll around the bed, also can strap boots to the bar.

I sure do love those ratcheting cargo bars!! I too hook straps to it occasionally. I highly suggest everyone to get one....you never know when you'll need it. I've got it sitting right behind the toolbox, clamped up on the sides....
