hitch question

I bought a used hitch and it didn't come with any paperwork about mounting it. Its a class 3 hidden hitch for the rear.

When I went to install it, the holes in the frame don't correspond to those in the hitch. Is this normal? I don't want to drill holes in my frame if I don't have to.

What kind of vehicle did the hitch come off of?

an 06 ranger, though I never did see it on the truck. It fits the rails just the holes don't line up.

i pulled one off a gen 1 in a junkyard thinking it would fit, and 2 bolts did, but one was about 1/2 too far forward.

See if there is a model number on the hitch. I sell hitches and such for a living. I can tell you if the hitch is the correct one. PM me with a pic of the hitch and I'll send you the correct instructions.

This is a link to Hidden Hitch and the instructions for a round tube hitch for your truck and the other link is for the square tube version.

Thanks I will check it out next time I'm near a comp. No acrobat on my BB.

As for model number I painted it and removed the tags already.

IF it's off any like 95+, it'll bolt right to the existing holes in the frame. I installed a 07 into an 08 and it bolts right up. That 08 hitch was on a '99 prior to being on the 08. My truck has an 02 hitch on it.

Here's what it should look like....

ORR....you've got one of those that bolt only to the lower lip of the frame rail. I have no experience with those.

Ryan...when you line it up to the frame, does it appear the bumper brackets would be bolted below the hitch, all using the same bolts??

Yeah I think the hitch goes between the bumper and it's mounts.

I just checked out the .pdf and the next warm day I'll see if it fits. Last time I tried it the spare tire was in the way... so I will put it in place and get some pics, maybe after I'm done working nights this weekend. Thanks guys!
