painting my tail gate

so i bought a new tail gate, because my orginal one got smashed( i stuck and no one had a tow strap so a guy with a 1977 f350 460 pushed me out with a tire inbetween the two trucks). the only clean rust free tailgate i could find was red. i was wondering if i could save some money and paint it myself. who hard would it be to do a good job? how do i make sure the color will match? i am willing to buy a spray gun because my dad and i plan to paint the jeep sometime.

thanks, CH

white is a really hard color to paint because you almost need a paint booth to ensure you dont get dust and dirt in your paint. My best advice is buying a gun and some cheap paint and clear and practicing. The more you practice the better youll get and can eventually start making money painting for others as a side job. Also if you have a garage you can make a paintbooth by hosing down your garage floor so dust doesnt fly and hanging clear plastic curtains around your truck or just the tailgate to spray it.
