Door bottom lip rust repair...

I've noticed that I have some bubbling of the paint minor rust forming on the inside bottom lip of my doors, particularly the rear/supercab doors. I'm going to attempt to do some repair to them maybe this weekend. I plan to plastic off the door opening and use a little spot sandblaster to clean them up, mask everything off and use some etching primer, and then order some spray can touch up. I don't have a paint gun or the expertise to match and paint so I,m not gonna go crazy with it. Since it's in an area that really won't be seen anyway I don't think it'll be any big deal if it's not 100% perfect. Really only need to do about an inch up. There is no rust forming on the very bottom of the doors themselves or anywhere on the exterior bottoms so I'll just mask that off. Does anyone have any more tips or suggestions for me? After everything is said and done (and dry) I may pick up some fluid film to spray inside the door bottoms. I'd like to get it done soon before it turns into anything worse.

i did mine but it came back a year later. the rust is inside the fold, and its tough to get that out. i used a wire wheel to remove what i could on my truck. going to try some rust spray to try and eliminate the issue, though im not sure how well ill be able to.

all they had to do was use seam sealer during the build, and the issue wouldnt be there, but thats too much to ask! lol.

I have the same thing, fixing it would only be temporary from what I have learned. It would continue to rust and rot. I went with the option of just replacing the doors I pulled from junkyards and finding them on part out trucks.

Yup, Rock of Sisyphus right there. I found my lower door lip rusting out about 3 years ago. Twice a year i grind it off, use rust converter and then spray it with color match paint. No matter how much work I put into it, it always comes back and I'm back where I started. The rust is on the inside...not much you can do to stop it.
