Pro Tech Rack on Steppie

Bought a used Pro-Tech Head Ache Rack for my 03 Steppie.

Paid $100 + almost 5 hrs of Travel to pick it up.

Last but not least the Steppie Back Rack that will be for sale soon.

Tomorrow the Back Rack comes off and I start the clean up.
The finish needs a little TLC, not sure what I am gong to do with the finish but Painting is an option and Powder Coating if the price is right.

More later,

Maybe its just me but I think it looks kinda goofy. I know its made for the width of the bed but looks weird compared to the cab since its not the same width.

That is a great price you paid for it though.

I agree, but you don't have much choice. They definitely are nice.

Looks soo good man. Glad you picked it up. I wasn't joking when I said it was spendy! Go take it to a shop and have the lumber stops added. It'll definitely complete the Protech look, I think.

Throw out some links for your LED ideas. I'm interested in your thoughts. I don't think my rack is going back on til I have some on mine as well!

To put in some answers...

Blk is the way, just how to get there is the question. Etching Primer and Paint is probably the way but P.C. is looking into a guy that does Soda Blasting, might do it, then the paint idea.

First off, it is double stacked at the moment, second, it NEEDS paint, third, once painted and in the correct position it will look better BUT yes I think the shape is a little off and the base is a little too wide.

Since your shop makes some things for P-T, do you have any hanging around ?

So far I have some 4” RED LED Strips from Ron Francis Wireworks.
When I get the "Corner Light Mounting” for the WorkLights I will allow for the Strips to fit just above the WLs. Not sure yet with the wiring but I am thinking drill a hole or two and run the wiring inside of the tube, I mean channel part.

I think painting it black will bring it together with the truck, just wen is another thing. 2+ years out of work, I am one of the legal people that got thrown off of the Unemployment list to make the number look better but lets not get that going right now.

What rear door window ?
The tool box will have to look up where I got it from. I found the manufacture on the Web, they offered their boxes in all shapes and 0.062 thick walls, didn’t want that thin so I went with a 0.125 wall, different box, even sounds more solid.

Rear Window Visor - And yes it keep the rain from dripping in BUT when the window is open there is a constant inward rush of air while moving and it will carry the rain with it so it is not good when moving.

Got it at Summit - I think WADE is the manufacturer but I will have to check it out to make sure.

AND a couple postings from the other Thread in the Classified…

I thought POR-15 was only for Steel, it reacts to the rusting process and makes solid material out of it ?
Not really familiar with all it will do; enlighten me ?

True, it is a channel with a flat on the inside, I thought it was Hex Tubing.
The OD measurement should still hold close enough for a quote on Soda Blasting.

The flat, as I now know it has, will allow for an easier mounting of the inside corner mounting plates.
Now to find someone that can handle aluminum welding.
My MIG has an option for a second Gum and I can run aluminum from a separate spool but I am not sure I can do it.

Wow, I hope all of the comment/questions got answered, i will get back to you on the tool box and the rear window visor.

OK, the update… there is none, well almost !

I took off the Back-Rack, put on the Pro-Tech Rack and did not like the looks.

Results of the test fit… it is going up for sale.

I will remove my Back-Rack Post and add a new one for the Pro-Tech.

Thanks for the support...
