bad idea!

youll end up melting your grill. a kid did that with his ranger around here, looked clean, its an 03 4x4 well, now he has them mounted on the front, but the stick up past the hood, looks kinda dumb, but, now hes got a 2wd grill.

I had them behind my grill on my 04, I took an metal strap and bent it the bolt to the lower Radiator support and then to the headlight header panel. It was real solid and it worked great.

I had mine from Autozone($20 cheapos) behind my grille. They never melted anything. I mouted them to the plastic peince behind the grille in front of the rad.

high wattage off road lights should not be mounted behind a plastic grille, but smaller driving/fog lights are ok. but, the drawback is changing bulbs requires you to remove the grille.

Instead of removing the grill you could just take the entire light assembly out.

I installed a couple of 55 watt lights behind the grille. Drilled holes on the plastic, which allows for about 1/8" space between the grille and light. No problems at all. Keep the wattage around 55 and you won't melt. I've had mine on for hours on end during road trips and have had no melting.
