Remember the thread I had about emblem overlays? well the reason I installed them was b/c my factory emblems had some how separated the clear coat from the paint causing this:





see how its faded and has that gross stuff there, that was on it before I added overlays...

I went to the dealer today b/c I needed an oil change, I talked to one of the guys in the parts dept. asked him if there had been any others coming in reporting the emblems doing this, he said that the trucks have been doing this, anyways I got 2 brand new decals installed under warranty, just giving some of you a heads up...

they replaced the one up front, gotta go back to get the rear fixed...



QUESTION: have you emblems done this???

 

Yes, mine have done that. In the same exact spot, and just as big as yours.

I had to wait two weeks to get my emblem, it took the dealer forever to get it.

I've seen a few new F350's with the same problem too.

 

yeah, they need to go back to the old style, mine on my 93 never did this...

 

I'm kinda a fan of the larger emblems. I dont care, it was fixed under warranty

 

Knock on wood mine hasn't had this problem yet

 

Nothing yet, but my trucks not really that old.

yeah i ANYONE is ever in central Alabama and you need help go to Ben Atkinson its the best Ford Dealership around, they are about 15min. off of I-85

 

u get your new emblem yet? i got mine for like $22. I would have just replaced it imo.

 

they ordered them and installed them for free :-D

happened to me, but it was VERY small compared to yours, replaced no problem.

 

I have this same problem on mine. I noticed it after washing my truck about a month ago. I will probably take it to the dealer tomorow to see if they can get replaced under warranty. I know from the dealer they are $50. Only my front one though is having that problem. (Crosses fingers)

 

thats cool the put that under warranty for you! I woulda thought that would go under the same category as the seats wearing out (which mine already are!) or some other trivial thing they wont fix under warranty.

 

yeah, I went to another dealer about something and they told me it was normal wear and tear, but the other dealer ordered me brand new door panels (grab handles were peeling)...

 

Well went to wash the truck yesterday and noticed my front one has started doing the same thing. 07SPORT, my drivers side door handle did the exact same thing.

 

Sorry I see this thread has been dead for a few weeks, but... mine are doing that too. Has anyone taken them apart and put something else in and sealed it back up? I only ask because I did that when I had my Lightning ( I took the front emblem apart and put in the SVT symbol ) and it looked pretty good.

 

My emblems haven't done that, but my grab handles are peeling and my seats are worn out.

 

Well the new 06 up are ONE piece emblems there just a piece of aluminum painted and clear coated, so that wouldn't work...however, you could dip them in acetone and make them all chrome...

 

That's an idea....
