So I was looking around on a few parts sites for prices on bumpers. Now for the 2005 Ranger there is the Valance part and the upper steel part. When you look at the 2006+ models there is a new peace. There is the Valance, the steel piece and also a 'Bumper Cover.' What exactly is the bumper cover? If I was going to order a 2006+ bumper for my 2004 ranger would I need all three pieces or just the new valance and the cover?

 

you need it all. the bumper "cover" is the part that gets painted to match the color of the truck

 

I figured thats what it was... I'm tempted to order an 06+ bumper... painting is not a problem since I have a friend who does it and owes me a favor.

 

Where did you find the best prices? I'm looking to upgrade my 99'.

 

The difference carried on with the 07/08, mid year. My 07 was that awful black textured two piece with that egg crate pop out driving light covers with no driving lights. The 08 was a painted upper and black textured bottom with a different plate bracket. I like the 05 set up but with the different grill on the 07 it would not line up with the upper fascia I got after going to the 08 styled front end. Check the grills first to see if they line up with that upper steel bumper.
