Front Receiver Hitch

Front Receiver Hitch
There are already a couple of threads on this, but they didn't go into a ton of detail. I spent some time this afternoon looking around for front tow hitches. I can get it installed at Absolute Offroad, but I need to buy the hitch itself. Some people were recommending a hidden hitch, but they didn't list the '08 as a supported year (only 01-05). I know the trucks couldn't have changed that much, but I feel better about the Curt hitch. It's closely identical to the hidden hitch, and the manufacturer documents that it'll work on an '08. It does say that the air dam may need to be modded, but I'm not too concerned about it. I trust the guys over at Absolute. I wanted to know your thoughts or experiences or anything I should keep in mind before I throw down the money. I want this done kinda quickly, but I want to make sure it can be done well. Thanks!

my truck when it was new. It's still mostly unmodded, and I don't have plans to swap out the bumper...

lol, yeah, good stuff Bryan...
that's what my concern is....I think that gaping hole in the bumber (the one part of the truck that bugs me, lol) might be a little lower, but I don't know this for sure. Outdoorsman's bumper isn't a good comparison . Where they say the air dam needs to be modified, I think the hole just needs to be trimmed or something to make room. When it comes down to it, I don't care - the hitch is more important...
The Curt hitch is about 10 bucks cheaper at the same site. Their specs are pretty much the same, and they both (obviously) mount to the truck the same way. I guess I mainly have to make a choice between Hidden and Curt. One final concern may be that, although it's unlikely that it'll matter, I wonder if Hidden would use the fact that my truck specifically isn't an '05 or older truck to refuse to honor the warranty. Not to be pessimistic or anything, I'm just trying to avoid bad days in the future

I looked at JCWhitney. I can save more money by taking the free shipping. However, the quickest it can be shipped is in 7-10 business days. My hang up is that I want to have this done while I'm in between semesters and as early as possible. What makes this worse is that, being a DeVry student, I only get 2 weeks over the summer, so it would become very difficult if I were to receive this hitch closer to that 10 days.
The thing about Hidden hitch not saying it'll work for '08 Rangers still bugs me, albeit the trucks are pretty much the same. I e-mailed Hidden to see what they say. If I get to feeling comfortable ordering a Hidden hitch, I might try to get it through ModBargains. I'll PM Alon to see what kind of shipping deals they have to see if I can get it here any sooner. If I have to wait the 7-10 days, I'll make it work, but I'm trying to explore my options.

ModBargains is funny the way it takes so long to receive a tracking number. I got an e-mail from ModBargains telling me the item shipped the same day I received it -- it was a little unnerving when they took money out of my account and then sent me no response that my item had shipped or anything for a week...then, all of a sudden, it pops up - lol. Hard to complain though, it was a good price and it was here a lot faster than I expected. I need to set up an appointment with Absolute Offroad to get this thing installed.
