Show your "offensive against foreign cars" decal

Thats why we live where we do, Its a free country. Most foreign car companies do have factories in America that puts money back in to the cities they are in. The big thing here is the "PAST" . When was the last time you seen a 50 or 60 or 70's anything from over seas? Buy American, the job you save might be your own!

i hear the early frontiers have problems from a guy in my old civic club who manages a car lot in central oregon, but i never asked him what those were cause he told me after i already got the mazda.

I have heard about axles going bad and Nissan having to replace them. Another problem is with the timing chain similar to what happens on the SOHC 4.0 but in the case of the Nissan the chain would break after a extended period of driving with the noisy chain.

I love Fords, because I always have, they are the most aesthetically pleasing to me in most cases, and I have never had any problems with my 03 ford ranger auto 3.0 int he 4.5 years I have owned it, and put almost 100,000 miles on it as the second owner.
However, I am not one to only ever buy american made. I had a KIA before my ford, and it was a great car, and they have only gotten better, and actually have a new factory in Georgia.
Money permitting, if I ever buy a new car it would be a Ford, simply because they are the only one of the big 3 to not take bailout money, and to actually be doing better because of it. Before I would only ever buy truck from ford, but their cars are amazing now.
Kias are great too, as are Hyundais for the money.
I personally and glad not eveyrone buys american made, because I enjoy being able to have an original vehicle that is not just like everyone else.

I feel with the shake up in the auto industry American car companies are going to make a rebound. In my opinion American car companies were making a lot of money and slacking on quality. Once the economy went to dumps and people were sick of bad products the domestic companies took a hit and got a wake up call.
After all the scrutiny on the industry domestic companies see that quality in a vehicle is a must if they want to attract buyers and earn more money.

the funny thing is ford and gm are selling like hot cakes in japan. lol, I am glad Ford took the hint a few years ago and down sized to keep from banckruptcy, and toyota shares were at 98 bucks the other day and Ford was second highest. it's all slowly coming back I think. if I think it looks good and gets what I need done then I like it, the smart car is a joke to me! I still got my '90 yota hilux pickup just broke in at 237,000 + miles i believe my ranger will make it that far too.

what i'm kind of sick of is how every thread on this site turns into this giant international battle... this website is designed for people who enjoy driving and working on their ford rangers. Not a site for people who drive toyotas to talk about how much fords are pieces of crap, and for people to talk about how their honda is 10x better than any ford... why the hell are you here if you hate ford so much, sell it and go buy a honda then... rangrdangr_4x4 asked to see pictures of people's offensive bumper stickers, not to debate which manufacture is better, if you don't think that offensive bumper stickers or bumper stickers slamming foreign cars are funny... keep it to yourself, that's not what rangrdangr_4x4 was asking for, this is his thread, not yours

Have you seen the numbers for last year? Ford is doing just as well, if not better, then most foreign companies as far as growth and profit. Only company to really do a ton better was Hyundai or Kia, and that's just due to price point of the cars.
Your post is your opinion, not fact and your entitled to it.

I guess that depends on what means "on top"
If you are referring to "quality" reports, I could care less what a magazine like JD powers says about one vehicle compared to another. You're talking about people who don't even change thier own oil making claims of why the quality of one car is better or worse than another.
I have specific criteria to chose one vehicle over another. Besides the Ranger, I would only chose an RS Escort if I ever bought any Ford. For that, any domestic either.

Their sales still aren't there but it is obvious that the build quality and reliability is light years ahead of where it was in the late 90s and early 2000's. The "Jack the Knife" years are over (former CEO Nasser sliced everything, quality declined and decontenting commenced) and Ford is in a much different place now than they were back then. Even on the other Ford boards the 98-04ish years are looked at to be about the most obvious time to see it.
As far as Frontiers, my boss has an 03 Supercharged model with around 40K miles that makes a funky rattle every time it's fired up cold. It's umm... an unnerving noise to me and if it was my truck I'd be worried. However, that is anicdotal so whatever. At first I thought it was maybe a bypass valve or something with the blower, but it will only do it when it's cold.
I also don't see the benefit to drive by wire. I'd much rather have a mechanical connection to the throttle body. You wouldn't build a plane with out a mechanical connection to the flaps and rudder would ya? (yes I know they have electric controls, but there are mechanical redundancies built in as well). For the runaway Toyota's being blown out of proportion, well, if I owned one it would be going in for the recall work. The same way I would take my truck in if it was affected by the Ford cruise control problem. Both had/have very low rates of occurance, but if it is a possibility either way and a known potential issue, why would you risk it for the sake of vehicular pride?
