Hey guys -

In addition to a bunch of stuff around the house, I was able to get a few things done to my truck.

First, thanks to Shane, I have a third with cargos.

Before installing it, I wet sanded it down so that it would look more like 2 years old instead of 8 :-).

The picture doesn't do justice... it's really clean.

Here it is with it all wired up and working. If any of you guys with 04+ Rangers haven't done this - it's really easy and only takes 20 minutes once you have all the parts.


Second -

I don't know if the rest of you have problems with things rolling around in your tool boxes. I really don't use mine to carry tools so much as emergency supplies (blankets (winter), couple bottles of water (summer), 4 lug wrench, jumper cables, etc.) cargo straps, and my laptop when I'm going back and forth to work. So, since it's usually about 1/3 full, things like to roll around when I go around corners. I got sick of that, and decided to try and fix it.

You can kind of see it in the pictures above, but my house has a breezeway between the house and garage. A couple years ago, we were at Lowe's and saw that they had custom length indoor/outdoor carpet runners. We bought one for the floor of the breezeway, and it is amazingly durable. Still looks like the day we brought it home.

I was looking at that, and thought that the same material would be great in the bottom of my tool box, as it is somewhat abrasive, and will help hold things in place.

So - I bought a piece just long enough for my toolbox (ended up cutting about 6" off the end, which was fine.



Then I cut it down to the right width for my toolbox, and installed it. Perfect fit, and it does exactly what I wanted it to.

Because my toolbox was less than half as wide as the runner, I have enough left to do one more if anyone wants it. I'll charge $7 plus whatever it costs to ship it, just give me the measurements for your toolbox. It can only be 51.5" wide though. First to PM gets it.

That's a good idea, I was going to use rubber mat.

Did you secure it or just lay it in ?

 

Just lay it in. It's exactly the right size, and has a rubber back so it isn't going to slide.
