I have been thinking about one of those for my truck, painting it white. I would like to paint the under side so the paint does not get chipped from stones but I think that would be difficult at best. Painting the front side you will likely get chips but it still protects the hood.

I should contact Lund and see what side is the side prepped for paint.

Weird, I can't find them any longer. I bought one a few years ago in Oxford White for an Explorer. I believe it was AVS brand.

I am not trying to be mean, bug deflectors are lame. It does not matter what color they are.

ive noticed alot of people dont like them. my truck came with it and then i put the guard on and i tried to see what it would look like without it and it didnt look right. just looks like somethings missing-its too round and smooth looking without one. so i kept it on. and since i got the new hood i need a new one.

Yeah, I had the clear version back when I had my Ranger. Almost bought a color matched one, but never did. Guess they discontinued color matching them from the factory. The neat thing about them is that the plastic was the color. It was not just paint on the outside.

it looks like summit has a white one that you might be able to paint it. but you guys may end up just talking me out of it. save me 50 bucks and a can of paint. with the new hood its doesnt look as rounded and smooth so mayb ill just pass.

I found they are useless and end up rubbing the paint off where it mounts. Just not worth it.

i seen some new ones that actually dont touch the hood. but i know what you mean, if you saw my new hood pictures you can see the damage from the old bug deflector. chipped paint right off, and those dam bumper things are a PITA to remove without scratching the paint. on the actual hood it was scratching right into the metal, theres actually like a crater in the hood under the old deflector.

ya i should get pics of the mess the last deflector did to my hood. i been practicing on painting some chips and so far ive concluded that i suck at painting. you cant really see the spots but if your looking for them you can see it. i think its the clear coat thats messing it up when i apply it.
