Fix Front Skid Plate

About three weeks ago I was in North Carolina on one of our jobsites and messed up my front skidplate pretty good. There was a chunk of what I thought was clay in the middle of the haul road so I centered it up and kept driving. Well it wasnt clay, it was a rock covered in clay and It bent my skidplate, but thats not the problem. It pulled out the front passenger side and rear driverside screws so now I only have 2 screws holding it in place. I should be able to replace the front screw with a bolt but what about the rear? I dont think I can get a bolt & nut in there because of the frame. Any ideas, and sorry I dont have pics. Maybe later today.

you should be able to get a nut and bolt in there
from the factory the skid plate is only held on by 4 self tapping screws
LIL BLUE has been up graded to 1/2 bolts
fish a wire from a hole in the frame large enough to fit the bolt and washer - there are plenty
drill holes large enough to fit the bolts in the place where you want to mount it
tie one end of a small string to the wire and one end to the bottom threads of the bolt (after you put on the washer)
fish the wire through the hole you drilled, pull out the string, feed the washer and bolt into the big hole and out the hole you drilled
it works, I did it quite a few times putting on my multiple front receivers and customizing my skid plate to fit
as I said from the factory the skid plate is only held on by two plastic assembly retainers (useless) and two self tapping screws up front and in the back
try to get an arched fender washer for the inside - they act as lock washers when compressed

Damn, sounds bad. I damaged mine in Wharton this past weekend, but i was able to bang it out. If there are any parts where the metal is bent in, but not creased, you can probably get it out. hit it from multiple places on the inside of the skid plate, and one of those shots should knock out the bent area.

Thansk Neil I will try that this weekend.

I am not too worried about the skidplate, from what I saw it just has a nice dent and I am sure I will need to straighten the edges to remount it. I have a ballpeen hammer, 3lb sledge and a nice short flat log to help beat it into submission.
