ANOTHER HID question....from a newbie
Ok, so I did the headlight mod. I'm waiting on corners to come in the mail. Here's my question. Now before I ask it, I know I'm going to get some people in here who hate the whole idea of HID's in a halogen housing. So for those of you, I've heard it before lol. I tried putting HID's in my car and the way the headlights are shaped, the reflected light all over the place. So I took them out and put them in my quad....in there, they kick *** lol
I'm thinking of putting HID's in the Ranger. I think doing the headlight mod might help to reduce some of the glare...that's just a thought though. I was just curious if those of you that have HID's get a lot of glare? When I had the set in my car, I was shooting light all over the place, even up the the trees...and no amount of adjustment could fix it. It's just how it was since they "technically" weren't supposed to be in there. So I guess I'm just being nibby. How do you guys that have HID's like them? And where did you install your ballasts? When I had them in my car, the 35x kit was plenty bright....I lost my highs since I didn't go with the bi-xenon kit, but you really didn't need brights anymore anyways.
Just looking for some information and some pricing. I was looking at kits on Ebay, but I'm concerned about replacement parts, bulbs, ballasts etc. No one seems to sell replacement stuff. I ended up here http://www.xenonvisions.com/index.html
since a friend of mine said he's been dealing with them for awhile and likes them a lot. They have the slim kits too which are pretty slick. Anyways, help me out here guys.
HID's in the new modded housings or xenon halogens?

I personally love my HIDs - in the housing with the cone to bounce light back it shouldnt be a problem. I didnt do the headlight mod so i cant help you there, but as far as the light bouncing all over the place u shouldnt have a problem, i dont. I bought mine off a friend but im sure you can get replacement parts online but they are not cheap. at least i havent found any. sometimes its cheaper just to buy the kit again.

How-To HID install. By: FX4wannabe01
Shane's how to on installing HID's is great. Has some great info and a lot of questions are answered. I just put HID's in my 04 and have no problem with glare. The light is evenly spread along the ground. I did re-aim my headlights down though since I have a lifted Ranger. I don't get people flashing me because my headlights are too bright. The top of the beam is aimed so it will hit at the mirrors or window line of a Mid-size sedan car. (tested it with my mom's Ford Focus Sedan.) I have just gotten my 3k HID's for my foglights so it will help out during rain, fog, snow, etc...
Where to buy?! Well there are a lot of different companies or people out on ebay trying to sell these and it all comes down to people that have bought from them and have positive and knowledgeable feedback from them. The place that I got my from are here: Autoluminate: HID Store. His kits are not that expensive but will cost just as much as those hyper white halogens at pep boys! The brand of kit is XENTEC and so far the ones in my headlights are working great. Shane says that his has been lasting for over 2 years. I don't know if he has ever had to replace a bulb but I know for a face that he has been experimenting with different K levels. I'm running 6000k in my headlights and 3000k in my fogs. I may get 8000k and 30000k for my fogs just for fun during the summer. But it all comes down if you want a one of kind headlight setup then do a projector retro fit with HID's, but that can be a lot of time and maybe money.
Well hope this info helps you out a little just my .2 paragraph!
