9 bulbs to do both, and yes they are 194s. but you have to replace the red needles. they dont light up with blue

you cant paint the needles, they are actually red plastic not painted. the 09 faces should still be the same as 04-08 so no worries there, and as for removing hte needles, there is a good video on youtube, i'll find it for you!

they don't go back if you don't put them in the right spot...but the easiest way to do it is know what your RPMs sit at for idle, where your temp gage is for when your engine is warmed up, and where your gas sat at before (a full tank is always easy to find) and the way to make sure your speedo is right, just drive behind a friend on the highway and tweak the needle a bit if you have to, so when you put it back in to test, leave the plastic cover off so you can tweak the needles a bit with the truck running, and yes the odometer will be blue with the new bulbs so no worries there

The gauge bulbs aren't 194s, its like 74 or 78. Fx4wannabe01 will know more about it. You'd have much better lighting from component LEDs than plugins anyway.

it is, the only pain in the *** part is the needles, either finding replacements or just dealing with it til you find a solution

It can be if you want it to be. It will turn out a lot better if you put some time and effort into it though. The single replacement LEDs will cause hot spots where some places seem brighter than others. I am just pretty particular about stuff like that so I like to go the extra step and make it perfect.

i just read the overlay intstructions and they are just vinyl overlays so the needles dont have to be removed.

You have to remove the needles to do the LED strips

i ordered some white led lisence plate lights just now. and the overlays .still debating on the dash lights may wait until i get my new headunit. the only reason im doing blue is my xm radio is blue, and my amp and capacitor have blue leds that make behind my seats and my back window glow blue at night.

i decided not to do the dash blue i thought about it and i would hae to change my cruise and window switchs. but if i change the lights to green led in the dash it will change the light right to more of a glow or would it be a waste of time and money
