One of my friends burned a hole in my passenger seat and i cant really think of anything to fix it than get a legit seat cover or get it re wraped in cloth. Is there anything else that i could do for cheap to touch it up and make it not so noticeable?

 

Here's something you can try.Find the right colored thread and take your time.

So was it on purpose or an accident?

 

It was by accident haha. He told me that whatever it is to fix it he will pay for 1/2 of it lol. Only half because it was my part to, he had it inbetween his legs with the cherry pointing up and i went over a speed bump doing 50 km/hr and he didnt realize and he dropped it and it burned a hole right on the grey part on the seat. I dont know how that lightbulb thing will work because i dont think i can get a light bulb into the seat lol. Im gonna find an interior place tommorrow and see if they can help me fix it.

 

not to jack your thread but since this came up,i know someone that needs some new seat or seat covers so does anyone know where to get new seat covers for a 60/40 seats? or any other ideas will work to

 

No problem man. Try a scrap yard if your looking for new seats? I had a link for some unreal seat covers that fit legit, and you can customize them too. Ill try to find the link and post it up.

thanks man,i like those camo ones lol,i sugested the scrap yard to them a few days ago ,i'm not sure how much they wanna spend on it tho but so far it looks like its gonna be a little pricey

 

an upholstery shop can order oem material, and replace just the one burnt panel. i do it all the time. sometimes we get lucky if they are right on the seam, just pull it up a little tighter. no material to buy.

Evan, the way i would do it is go to the JY, and find another ranger with ripped seats, the same colour as yours, and cut a section that will cover the hole, plus some extra, take this, and slide it through the burn hole, and flatten it down, between the foam and the hole, you can then use a little bit of fabric glue, stick the nozzle through the hole to the side and squirt a little bit out as you spin the bottle around the hole (to glue the new piece of fabric to the underside of the seat) this won't be perfect, but the jy would probably charge you like a dollar for the fabric, and the glue is about $5 a bottle... better than getting your seats re-appolstered...

I dont know what hes doing haha he just had his hand on his leg pretty much and then it dropped. Whenever I smoke, or anyone else smokes in my truck the smoke has to be out the window from now on. It makes the whole interior ugly with that one little hole. Thanks weezl, Im gonna hit up the JY tommorrow, always good to see another Canadian on here haha

 

Most parts stores sell fabric repair kits. Basically there are containers with different colors of this powdery fabric material in them. Mix the colors until they match the seat, then glue the stuff on with the supplied glue and support fabric. I used one of these kits to fix a cigarette burn in my Explorer, and even with Willow Green cloth I was able to get a pretty good match. You could still see the repair if you knew to look for it, but it was better than a burn mark.

those are covers? where did you get them and how much? i totally want a set... maybe a little darker blue...

 

what about the arm rest can you cover those too?

 

Check with your local dealership, as they usually have someone contracted to do that kinda stuff to trade-ins............we have a guy that comes round once a week or so unless called.

I seen him do it before, similar to one of the above posts bout the glue & powdery material...........couldn't see where the hole was after he was done.

Not sure on cost, but FFT.
