This is a 95 Ext cab. I got it for 500 bucks from the junkyard. The engine was ripped to bits. I had some left over parts from my 55 F-100 projects and thought maybe I can make a fun driver. Well, it was a real job, more than I bargained for. I didn’t know enough to look for a later rack and pinion steering Ranger so I had to raise up the motor and offset it 3” to the pass side. That was ok as the diff was offset the same. It was a 4.0 v6 so it already had an 8.8 rear. I put in an Auburn electronic locker I got on EBay plus 31 spline Moser axles and 4.10 gears. I had an old repaired T-56 6 speed which would give me 2500rpm at 70. So far so good. I had an extra Mustang Cobra computer but no harness. I spent over 2 weeks making up one from leftover parts and the old v6 harness. Luckily this year Ranger was a EEC-5 generation ECM. No one was more amazed than I when it started. The oil filter needed a remote adapter and was the biggest clearance problem. I used the original two piece driveshaft for now. I had to have the front piece shortened a bit. Cooling is fine up here in Washington but I took it to Sacramento where it was 105 and the temp started to climb up a bit, never over 205 though. I bought one of the Duff aluminum radiators and I have an electric water pump on the motor and a high tech thermostat which all helps. The cowl hood lets a bit of heat out but I could still cook an egg in the engine room while in California. I put the Cobra 13” brake kit on the front along with 3” dropped beams. I also had a left over hydro boost system which gave me just enough clearance to get a valve cover off. The back has a 4” drop. I am amazed at how well it drives, much better than my wife’s 2.3 02 or our 96 which is a wee bit handicapped as it has 1000 pounds of batteries in it for power. The motor is a Ford Racing long block aluminator. I had the p&p manifold, injectors, etc. I bought some JBA shorty headers which cleared the steering by a good two widths of my wife’s credit card. I actually had to use a Borgeson Shaft which is smaller to even make that happen. The photos of this are at Image Shack. Imageshack - picture0018vv.jpg - Uploaded by f100guy. Well, darned if I can find that info right now but it was from the RPS site, I think and came from a guy in Canada. I couldn't get the ABS to work with the new computer so I took it out and put in an adjustable proportional valve. Stops really good. Old guys need brakes more than they need HP.
