When I Superlift my truck I wanna stay away from using blocks. What's the best setup to lift the rear ?

 

Depends on what you want. If you want cheap but no stacked blocks whtn I would say belltech 6400 shackles paired with either explorer or chevy 63" leaves from a half ton. If you want to spend a little more you can get some new 6" lift leaf packs and get rid of your stock block also. If you want to spend a lot four link that bioch with king coilovers lol.

Some will say use AALs but unless you haul/tow daily I would stay away from that because it makes the ride pretty stiff, ask me how I know lol.

 

I'd do it legit and get 6" lift leaves. Isn't it Skyjacker who makes those?

There's not really anything wrong with running the stock block, shackles, and an AAL but with the AAL you'll have a very rough ride in the back. You have to think of it this way, the rear ends of our trucks are very light. Add a stiffer spring in there and you have more of a rough ride and also a bouncy ride when it comes to things like rough roads and what not. If I were to lift my truck tomorrow I would just spend the extra money and get the lift springs. They're worth the time and money in my opinion.

 

It's better than stacked blocks for sure but I would recommend using either xploder or chev 63" leaves instead of the aal. Tou can get them all for about the same price $50-$75, plus the shackles at about $50. So it only takes about $100 to lift the rear the right way instead of stacking blocks. 6" springs are nice but are closer to the $300-$400 range IIRC.

 

my truck already has a rough ride now so it wont really bother me. ill just stack the blocks for now then save up some more money to get aal and shackles.

yeah i tried that and Skyjacker's website and multiple off-road part websites and found nothing... i wouldn't have posted that question if i hadn't already looked myself... much faster to look myself than wait an hour for someone to reply...

I got my 63"s at a JY but i'm sure you could get them new. They are stock half ton 2wd leafs.

its saying on there that you have to move the front bracket forward. are you able to you explorer leafs??

 

the skyjacker leafsprings say they are for the older rangers, try typing in 1997 ranger on the skyjack website
or I got mine at summit the only thing that didnt fit for me was the front bolts, you need one size smaller to fit threw the front bushings

 

For the 63" leafs you do have to move the front hangers forward 6". It's not too hard though, you can use the two front holes on the frame for the two back holes to ensure that you get then perfectly straight and exactly 6" forward. Explorer leafs you don't have to move the spring hangers. The longer leafs give a smoother ride and better flex though.

 

88-98 chevy/gmc 1/2 ton trucks... and take the overload off, they flex amazing and ride really nicely, super nice! BTW, get them used so they already are broken in, the new leaf is way more expensive and will ride stiff for a good amount of time, get em used for sure

 

im looking at getting explorer leafs since i dont think im capable of moving the bracket forward any inputs on that??
