Playing with Halogen lighting (F150)

Well since I bash everyone for running HID retro kits and putting out a bunch of light scatter (hah!), I've been experimenting with a couple halogen bulbs.
I bought silverstar heads and fogs (ran them in my ranger for a long time), and they work pretty well, nice white light (no blue or yellow). Great when it's dry, awsome in the snow, but not so good on wet roads. It seems like the white light reflects AWAY from me more over the wet road.

Well I liked Shane's setup (color wise anyway) when he had 6000k heads and 3000k fogs, just didn't like the light pattern. Not knocking anyone's setup it's just a personal preference about HIDs in halogen assemblies. I had heard of people buying "Nokya" 2500k halogen bulbs on ebay and loving them so I order a set for the fogs.
I've always hated yellow fogs, thought they looked stupid, but I have to say that I love them so far!

The contrast is great! Some things show up better with white light, some shows better with yellow. It looks great if it is wet or dry!
I had been obsession for a while (since the leveling kit) to get all of my lights aimed properly. The yellow fogs fit slightly different so I had to adjust a bit.
I also modified the fog light relay so the fogs stay on with hi-beams.

On to the pictures. Some of them I messed with color slightly as they were brighter/darker than their comparisons (the fogs are really yellow, the third picture shows the best). Some are crappy and blurry but you get the idea.

Nokya fogs only.

Nokya fogs, silverstar low beams.

Nokya fogs, silverstar high beams.

Fogs only. Silverstar left, Nokya right. Hard to tell much.

Fogs only. Silverstar left, standard light right. Hard to tell much.

More coming, stand by...

Fogs and low beams just before dark.

Low beams only.

Fogs and low beams.

High beams only.

Fogs and high beams.

Just fogs.

Fogs and lows again.

After finding a level surface and clean white wall I spent some more time adjusting. I'm satisfied as from 25' away, heads and fogs both put all of their light out lower than the center of the lights, with the fogs being aimed slightly lower. Left headlight is slightly lower also. Drove around on some dark backroads and highway and no one flashed brights at me, didn't light up any faces as I drove by. I think they are aimed very well.
So far so good.
I'd like to try PIAA extreme white headlights but I spent enough in halogens for now, lol.

Yeah they are definitely more of a "function over form" kind of deal. I still don't like the way the fog lights look from outside the truck but maybe it will grow on me, who knows. I keep the silverstars under the backseat in case I change my mind, lol.

I like that white but the yellow sucks. I like the silver star fogs better.

The silver stars suck on wet roads though which is why I am trying these out.

That fine I guess. Is there anything you can do about the yellow though?

I could throw the old factory bulbs back in, but I'm kind of liking this now. We'll see how I like them after a few days or weeks. If I can't stand them I'll put the silverstars back and only put the yellow in when it's going to be raining a lot or something, I don't know. Maybe next time it is raining real good I'll take some comparison shots of the silverstar fogs and the Nokya fogs.
Like I said I always hated yellow fog lights, but it's actually much nicer to drive with than I expected (so far).

FWIW, I expect a lot of people to give me a hard time about the yellow fogs, lol.

Bah! I must have typed "dogs" and fixed it a dozen times by now.
