Paint - enamel vs lacquer

I sprayed a Radio Bezel with an Acrylic Laquer, now I can not locate a Clear Matte Acrylic Laquer to try and tone it down some.

My question is, can I use an acrylic enamal on top of the acrylic lacquer ?

Thks...

I've been told before you can't put lacquer over the enamel.... couldn't tell you for sure about the other way.

Me too !
I have also been told as I am asking enamel is ok on lacquer but was wondering what others thought.
As was suggested in another thread I should do a test first on another piece and get not only get an answer but post a solution for future use.

Today is raining here in New England so it is a good day to heat up the shop and test some paint.

Took a Radio Bezel from the pile.
Partially painted it with the same silver paint I used on the mod’d radio bezel.
Waited approximately 1 hour to let it dry with some help from the hot air heater.
Sprayed on some Acrylic Enamel from the same manufacturer.
No immediate lifting of the lacquer under the clear.
I will check tomorrow AM and see of anything has happened.

If nothing I need to locate some Matte Finish Clear Acrylic Enamel.

Thanks for listening.

Appears to be ok.

Now all I need is some Matte finish clear.

Hopefully this will get installed after I get back from SoCal in a month or two...

Talked to Dupli-Color, they suggested using Krylon Matte Clear.

Will have to see where this goes.
