Building Hitch into Bumper

my rear bumper is falling apart in big sheets of rust and if i dont end up getting a chrome stock bumper i want to build a bumper like Andys with two pieces of rectangular tubing. My truck doesnt have a hitch, so i want to either get a standard hitch receiver tube or use a piece of 2" square and weld it into the center of the bumper between the two tubes.

i dont plan on towing a boat or anything over 1500lbs, possibly our rail buggy on a car dolly. this will mostly be for a recovery point.

so other than reinforcing the way the bumper bolts to the frame, adding gussets to the hitch tube, and making 100% sure that the hitch is centered is there anything i should look out for?

Chrome won't get you home you say. Then how come all my craftsman tools are chrome plated?

Got it covered. Make sure it is parallel with the ground as well.

Buy this type of 'hitch' then weld it to the bumper.
