can't wait to see it when it gets back from line x!

 

I tried to flip them but found the space between was wider than the bumper opening.
The bumper and the brackets fit nice just needs to be raised up.
New brackets should be here weds or thursday.

I will add some pics but not too many, don’t want anyone to run and get one before I can get mine on.

Since i am in a little feud over the Line-X shop in Salem, MA, it went out of business shortly after spraying my liner in the steppie bed and I was told I would get my receipt in the mail but nothing ever came. Now I want some work done on it and getting a lot of ****.
I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau waiting for them to say something.
Oh Ya, back to subject… I have been thinking of having both bumper sprayed with Professional Metal Etching Primer, then spray semi-gloss black instead of the Line-X route.
Since I am thinking of painting the sides of my truck it would match up better.

Here is the marked up bumper, both sides needed the same trimming.



This is after trimming but once new mounting brackets get here I may need to trim a little more.
Remember this is a prototype and it needed very little trimming.
Not bad for C4x4 not having a Steppie in his shop.
Ended up using a cut off wheel and it took a little longer and cleaner than the Plasma Cutter, cut off wheel looked better when done.

Hoping that the new bracket lift the bumper up high enough, I asked C4x4 for approximately 1.25” more light.

 

If it were me, I would prefer either a flat or gloss black.

I planned on bed-lining my bumper, but the flat black rustoleum has grown on me.

 

The Rustoleum black is a little more to the semi-gloss side and it would look good.

I am not sure where to go, I first need to finish the rear bumper then the front.

Got my new brackets and will attempt a refit tomorrow, if the weather holds out.

Hoping for the best... Quick and easy.

Only problem is I have a VA appointment doctor’s today, not sure when I will get the pictures but will get there.

I have a stock chrome rear bumper for a steppie with brackets, thinking about selling it.

 

Yes, it is Chrome and in decent shape.

If you want it throw me a number for the bumper, shipping, packaging and insurance is extra.

 

 

As always I don't get to what I say I will until a few day later.

Took the bumper off without pictures.

When I get the new bracket I will post and then again after the painting.

Best I can do, at least this isn't my Jeep, it is still sitting there waiting to be finished.

I had to mod the bracket for the rivets, for some reason I didn’t have any problems up until the last lift up mod to the brackets.
The bumper appeared to be still too low and I asked Mike at C4x4 to make another set of bracket, he did but I still was getting weird readings from side to side. checked it out, found the culprit the rivet in the middle of the bracket mounting location.

I drilled out a 1” hole and they fit perfectly, then I had to shim the right bracket ⅛” to allow for my bed/frame being off a little.

When I take the bumper off I will get some picture.

All I can say, in the long term, is that Mike has gone out of his way to make this happen, as it stands right now this bumper will fit the Steppie but with slight modification will fit the styleside bed also.
Bracket will be the same but if you have a body lift you will have to contact Mike and have some further mods done to lift the bumper.

His quality is up there with the best of the fabricators in and around the automotive industry, we came up with this bumper and he built it 1500 miles away from me, made some mounts, had a few tweaks and wham bam, I have a steppie bumper and it fits.

Look through the thread, you will see the bumper, just not finished.

I am going to a new Line-X Dealer, about 30 miles up the road, and see what they want to do the super deluxe, Life Time Warranty, Line-X Coating on the Bumper.
If the price is right and they can do the prep work I will leave it but if it appears to be to much money I will talk to my painter and see about standard painting.

I wil post up picture when I get a chance, they will be the finished bumper.

Now to get started on the front one and then the sound system and then the gear change and then, and then… there isn’t enough time between the things to do on the Ranger and the move to SoCal.

 

Still at the sandblasters, he said he would call but nothing.

I will stop by today and see what is happening, should have been done last week.

 

Just keep dragging it out don't you. lol

 

Take the wife with and, and say that you can't move to CA until the bumper is finished.

That might get you some results hahaha.

He asked me to come up to review the parts, not too sure what is up but I guess he wants to get them right.

Dragging things out is my speciality, nothing gets done in a day or a week with me; like a good writer you need to bring the readers along slowly and then hit them with the finish. Also it makes the wife think I am busy and she doesn’t ask if the “Honey Do List” has anything to do on it.

Keeping in mind this is a prototype, when I started I thought the bumper would be a perfect fit but like Mike at C4x4 says we are 1500 miles apart, all he has is an OEM Bumper for a Steppie so if ti s close we are good.
A little rework to the bumper where it fits the bed corners, a couple of bumper bracket mods to make it fit better and we are ready for install, except for the painting thing.

Hopefully I will be coming home with the bumpers and getting the etching primer on them this afternoon… wait a minute, that might be too fast for me.

It's considerably more money than etching primer and paint, but have you looked into powdercoating them?

I use Good Hues up in Derry, and they're awesome guys to deal with, do great work, and are very reasonable.

Personally I think those bumpers deserve PC over paint.

 

So he should have more time to get stuff done!

That’s why I am moving to SoCal, warm weather most of the time, so I will move a little quicker.

I did, $500 for both bumpers and the back rack from a company Pedro suggested.
Two problems with Powder Coating, one is it is a b!tch to repair if damaged and two I have not seen any powder coating that hasn’t rusted from the inside out.
Could be poor prep work or whatever, I am not a fan of powder coating.

Once you get in the mode of having the time to do what you want you tend to take even longer to do things or at least finish things.
I think on it, then start, then think on it some more, then do a little more.
I am in NO RUSH to do anything any more.
The move to SoCal is really pushing my limits at the moment but we will get over that too.


The Bumpers and Back Rack have been sandblasted, they are primed with Etching Primer and setting waiting for the next move.
I need to do some trim work on the house first then a DuPont Semi Gloss Paint will be applied, maybe this afternoon or tomorrow.
