My new bumper

Finally got around to making up my new bumper. Its made of 1 3/4" dom. Right now its just spray bombed so it doesnt rust. Once I buy the lights for it, 5 5" round lights, I will weld on the tabs and either have it powdercoated or line-xed. I will also be remounting the 5 (4 in front 1 in back) 6" lights i had on my roof rack as soon as i move at the end of the month. A cop in my town made me take them off cuz he said they were illegal.

HaHa, Is that stronger than a brushgaurd, I like it.
The ferret riminds me of my friend. He stuck a taxidermied white pigeon in between his bumper and grill.

I can stand on it and it doesnt flex. Its bolts under the truck to the frame and to where my tow hooks were before the body lift.

That looks really good man I like it.

On the side though did you check out the laws that does not sound right to me about the lights from what I understood you can have them all you want they just cant all be turned on unless your offroad.

Looks great! I would advise against powdercoating it unless there is some kind of lifetime warranty. bumpers are prone to rock chips and other road debris not to mention what happens if you wheel with it and if its powdercoated you wont be able to fix the nicks without going through the whole powdercoating process. my headache rack is powdercoated but it sees way less abuse than bumpers would. I do have a scratch in the coating too and the only way i could think of fixing it was to closely match some paint and touch it up. bed liner is the way to go with their lifetime warranty!

I am 99% sure they are legal. You just have to have covers on them when you are on the road. I actually failed inspection one year b/c I didnt have covers on my KC's on my light bar that's on my Bronco.

Thanks everyone....

Yeah cop pulled me over one night about a mile from my house gives me a ticket for my license plate lights being out and obstruction of view. My xm radio stuck up about an inch over my dash in the center. Then he tells me my lights are illegal. I asked if it was cuz there were no covers on them. He says no they are illegal they cant be more then 42" from the ground. At that time the lights hadnt been wired yet cuz i had taken the rack off for the winter. Fast forward a year this cop pulls me over again. Doesnt give me a ticket just tells me i have a week to take them off. I asked if i could build a bumper and put them there. He says you can put as many as you want there. Which is why im putting 5 lights on my bumper. So i just took them off since i knew i was moving soon. I also heard through a friend of a friend of a friend that knows this cop that said i had them on while i was driving both times. Which is complete BS since the 1st time they werent wired and the 2nd time was at 2pm so why would they be on?
Just sucks that some properties i deer hunt are in this town, so im just gonna put covers on when i come back through town and if he wants to give me a ticket ill fight it.

Truck looks real good. I like the bumper and I like the idea of the roof rack, but it sits a little to high imo.

I will post in another forum the rules for NJ reguarding lifts and the lights.

But it looks like in this case the cop is wrong, unless the rules for off road lights are different for lifted trucks vs non-lifted trucks.

It states that "Off road lights must be covered while operating on public roads."
