I want a fabbed bumper for winch

i want to make a bumper that can hold a winch on the front of my truck. but i want this to be removeable so i can store it when im DD my truck but throw it on when i go offroading

would it be strong enough to use the stock bumper location on the front. just taking out the 4 nuts and try and fab somin up?

im just really stuck on where to start. i need recovery points cause i have non at all!

Get a front mount hitch and get a plate that slides in there so you can easily remove the winch.

If you want to remove it just get a front hitch and a winch plate, thats the best thing for what you want.

agreed, a 2 inch reciever both front and back and a portable winch would but perfect for your application, just run power cables for the winch to both the front and back, and you can also use a reciever mount shackle for a tow point

im liking this one, this could save me time and i wouldnt have to remove the bumper completely. would this setup be strong for using a winch. also what kinda lbs should i look at for a winch. like a 3000lb straight line or more?

i believe lots of winch companies sell a mount the slides into the reciever, other wise it would be pretty simple to fab one

here's an example of one made by warn:
http://warn.iwebcat.com/_Members/lookups/partdetail.asp

and here is a winch that comes built to go into a towing reciever:

You'll need more than a 3k because you truck weighs more than 3k. JCWhitney has the front hitches too.

Yeah I'd go for a 9k, I see a lot of those on Craigslist. You have to keep in mind that as more cable goes out the pulling capacity lessens. You'd be fine with a 8k-9k. I think Summit sells the winch plates as well.

Got any pictures of a front hitch installed? I'm wondering (hoping) if the front license plate would cover up the receiver.
