Does anybody have Pipe bumper plans ?
well since my old rear bumper is FUBAR from the lady who rear ended me .
Does anybody have any plans for a rear tube bumper that wont interfear with a receaver hitch .
A few things I dont have a welder so it will be done a a fab shop so nothing to intracate , and if you could a scematic and materials list would be nice .
also weight is a concern for the moment (spring swap in the works )
so what should I do guys ?
And what price range am I looking at ?

i would go to like a small town welder/fabricator first n see if they have like a uh 3-4" aluminum pipe and maybe a few aluminum plates, depending on what you want to do.. and have them fab up a quick bumper.. if you lived by me i would suggest my brother, hes excellent at welding and fabricating.. i am prolly gunna have hime make me a aluminum roof rack and maybe a skid plate/brush guard.. but yea, find some1 who has scrap aluminum pipe that you can get cheap.. aluminum because its a lot lighter than steel.. if you didnt know already.. im not sure on pricing tho, it might cost um $50 for materials and a welder/fabricator costs at least $50 per hour, most i would pay is $75 per hour... depending on complexity it would prolly take um i would guess 1-5 hours with the right machinery.. so worst case scenario would be $425...but the least you could get it for is prolly $100... for basic... so im not sure what a replacement bumper costs but i would guess about the same as your worst case scenario..

Gumby im to far , plus thats not what I want , Im looking to put the brackets back on heat and bend them back and weld a 4" pipe on the back to fit in between the rear quarter panels , very simular to a Ranch Hand full relacement bumper for full size trucks . any Ideas ?

that would be easy.. get a 4" aluminum pipe take it to a machine shop, have them cut it to length, put ends on the pipe then have them fab up some brackets... i would say total cost would be around, $100... idk how much a machine shop charges an hour there but id guess 60.. it should only take an hour to do all that i think..

We just made a prototype......
To get ideas and work out some bugs, I would let it go for $400 shipped to the lower 48, cheaper if you are close.
The whole thing is 120 wall and the main hoop is 2", skid plates were just for looks at 1/8" for the test but they are reinforced from the rear but we would use 1/4" on a production model, this one is on an '03.....
DUH! Why did I think Front after reading all the posts? And who do I talk to to become a vender here?
BTW, Aluminum is now ~$1.35 per lb, diameter & forming adds lots to the cost, steel would be much cheaper and could be nearly as light but if you just want a 4" tube for the bumper its a 30 minute job and under $150 from a competant shop, no effort for 1 tube.

Its taking everything in me to be nice so bear with me , I posted here to se if anybody had a scematice for a pipe bumper . If you would have bothered to read my post you would have relized this fact . And that Im not looking for a prerunner front bumper .
Yes its called pipe not tube , even the guy at tyler steel suply called it a pipe .
What I wanted was a freakin 4" inch diamiter pipe as a back freakin bumper , I know somebody on here has one he has a white ranger , Ive seen it in some post I just wanted to know if he had a scematice for it as it would save me $$$ at the fab shop if I design it and not them .
Its cool I already purchased new mounts for my stock bumper , now im designing a scematic for my pipe bumper .
And if any mods see this please lock this thread as only 2 poeple have actully given me advice so there is no need for this anymore.

Then I edited it and added this, a Straight Pipe bumper......Made for $150 anywhere......Steel is cheaper. Schematic? Its a straight pipe, measure, cut, weld, done. Make the brackets in 5 minutes.

Thats why I asked . The only thing I wanted to know was how he made the brackets ...
And thank you camo thats the exact one I was talking about , but like I said Ive already purchased new brackets to mount the stock bumper untill I do a sspring swap in the rear , as it is alread sagging due to the site safe in the back of my truck ...
Thanks

May i ask why you specifically want pipe?
Pipe is made to hold internal pressure. They are not made to withstand external forces - similar to those that a bumper would take under impact.
I think the reason people were correcting you on tube over pipe is because they assumed that you made a common mistake and weren't seriously considering making a protective component out of something that wouldn't hold when it was needed...
As for your want of a schematic... i just have to say: "really?" If you're taking to a fabrication shop anyway, just tell them what you have in your head and they should be able to make it happen... If they don't do what you want, you make them do it again. It's the benefit of being a customer.
I won't even delve into the aesthetics of this topic...
