Frame repair
OK, so I have the same rusted frame that I see lots of people talk about. I have a 99 extra cab with the short bed and both rear spring hangers are torn from the frame and rthe frame is cracked on the passenger side just behind the front spring hanger. The rest of the truck is like new. Almost every ranger in the junk yard is missing the rear half of the frame or the spring hangers are torn out like mine. I have a couple of options, fabricate a new frame from the cab back from 3/16 plate and rectangular tube or find frame rails from some other truck that can be altered to fit. I have the equipment and ability to do either but has anyone ever gone this route? Any pictures?
Funny thing about the frame issue, I have 2 99 rangers, the frame on one is like new and both have spent their lives in New Englend.
Thank you
Dave

I've heard of people going both routes but it depends on how long you want to keep the truck and what you intend to do with it. I am currently looking for someone with a welder and expertise in fabricating body mounts and shock brackets. Of course just looking since I just re-joined the un-employment line again. So yeah if you intend to do off-roading or heavy hauling then redoing the entire frame would be the best bet.
