a cummins swap is a huge project!! think of a sas with 3 link and coilovers, and then double or even triple the complexity especially in the newer rangers with pats and all that good stuff. ive been researching for a while now, id love to do a p pump 4bt backed by a 6sp allison w/manual mode and a 4spd atlas behind that. 4btswaps.com is the best site ive found so far regarding cummins swaps. glad to see im not the only one interested in diesels on here, getting a little sick of all the v8's.

Sick of V8's?

You're insane if you think a 460 is your typical V8 swap into a Ranger... cause at some point, that's what is going into mine...

i agree with you on that. i guess i should have said 302's my bad. im a fan of oddball swaps. josh's ls swap wouldve been sick, a bbf would be awsome, and a built coyote motor would make a mess in my pants, but a the run of the mill expo/mountaineer 5.0 swap is starting to bore me. i think even a bowtie engine would be ok if it was a big block.

Its a fab job then custom gauges, it will be far easier than a SAS.

All you need is motor mounts and the trans mounts, Keep in mind the ranger tunnel is rather small and some of these SAE 3 belled transmissions are small tanks.

If you have the means to pull the cab off this swap will be almost simple to do.

Check out some of the diesel forums, have seen quite a few swaps with the 4bt, lots of power parts for them also, some claim they can be built up to 400 hp and 600fp of torque, more than enough to do what ever you have a mind too

I've heard nothing bad about 4bt's, even saw a Ranger with a 6bt once and I didn't have enough time to ask if he had to extend the frame to fit it in there. Good luck!
