NOS Question?

Hey guys! I though to be first one in here and I hope it's not a stupid question, but I kinda wonding something! Can a stock 4.0l sohc with auto 4x4 handle the Nos? and how many shots without blowing it up? I know it will void warrenty and I've been thinking about that!! Thanks in advance!!

My current setup is a single stage that kicks in at 3900 ( ends at 5900 ) rpm via a MSD window switch and relay setup. It's a wet system ( I blew 2 manifolds with dry systems and wont ever try that route again ) .
I don't like juice and and Auto tranny as your tranny is programmed to shift at certain points/intervals where with a stick, you can keep it in the upper rpm's and stay on the juice till the rev limiter kicks in ( or the window switch cuts the juice off ).
If you do any offroading, Get a blower ( will produce bottom end torque more then juice ) . N2o is great for straight bursts and chasing down most imports.. But a blower is always on and in the mud.. easier to manage.

Personally.. I think superchargers and blowers are Much harder on an engine, less fuel efficient and cost a LOT more then a GOOD N2o setup.
Most Blowers/Turbos require an ECM flash and a whole new program. This requires a bit of downtime. I can run juice with a chip ( dual program ). I can have daily drivability on one side with 87 octane and a second program for the juice when I want it.
Supercharger? Care to fab a manifold? Play with water injection? Pinging, programming... You COULD run a dry 50 shot with NO issues if you really wanted to with just a WOT switch and maybe a hobbs ( just in case, for safty ) .
A GOOD head unit for a supercharger alone runs 1100-1500$ on the low end... I could do a whole N2o setup with a couple hrs of dyno time for the same amount.
Everything has its pros and cons.. If you want to run boost, go for it, be happy and enjoy it for as long as the bottom end of your engine will take it. The same goes for juice.
Boost and Juice don't blow engines, Idiocy and ***-Tards that are as challenged as an eggplant get stupid and waste engines
Offroading.. I'd have a roots system installed.

it isnt NOS!, NOS is a brand name, there are many different NITROUS kits out there, and IMO and from expericences my friends with nitrous have had, NOS isnt the best kit out there...
also, im not sure where you got your idea of hp to nitrous ratio, most people go by the amount of liters the engine can hold....

22% drive train loss is what I figured on my old 3.0l. I guessed my vehicle's weight (with me and my crap in it too), took an E.T. from the track, and the advertised H.P. of the engine. That was a 3.0l manual by the way. So 22% on a good day for a manual, and that was with near perfect shifts.

I have very little knowledge on nitrous, but my friend is running a 75 shot on his 2.5L 4 banger(Nissan Sentra Spec V). I think you could handle between 75 and 100 shot on a stock 4.0L as long as your easy on it.
I have a 1.8 and I can safely handle 50...WOW 50 HP -rolls eyes-. If you want to be the first to find out go for it. But more cubic inches more you should be able to handle.
If you want to be safe on the engine run 75 shot...oh shyt late for class late.

Its not because the engine is bigger, so automatically it can handle more nitrous.. Stop thinking like a caveman...
These SOHC engines have a returnless fuel system,
when you spray, inside the intake manifold, you get puddling, of the nitrous, unused nitrous, and what does that puddled nitrous do inside the intake manifold..?
BAM! bye bye manifold.. Its not as easy as u think, you have to get rid of the access nitrous thats going inside the intake manifold..
The 97/98 Mountanier/Expolorer's came with a return fuel rail system.. Get that, around 600 bucks ..
And the engine could handle more of the nitrous.. Thing is, how much exactly do you want to spray into a plastic intake manifold?
But, you would also have to upgrade fuel systems, the stock fuel system can only compensate the nitrous/fuel ratio up to so big of a shot..
Too big of a shot, and not enough gas... Bye Bye engine..I've said enough.
