My F150

Originally planned on doing a mild pro-touring 71-72 C10 Cheyenne with an LSx, but at the moment I can't have the down time of building a truck and being without a daily for an uncertain amount of time. So I'm taking my dads old truck and selling my Ranger. I have a handful of things that I'll be doing to it since it only gets used for towing motorcycles at the moment. Kind of my mini project log.

I hated the stock wheels, so I bought some 2010 Lariat 20s for $220. The tires are about 1/5th tread, and the wheels have some curb rash. But for $220 right down the street I'm not complaining. I need to finish cleaning them and deburring the rash tomorrow.

Leveling kit is coming off this week, and 2" drop shackles are ordered.

I don't blame you for going with the F150. I plan to go fullsize sometime in the next couple years, but I'll only do it when I can keep the Ranger and turn it into a toy.

Looking forward to this build, knowing how well your Ranger was put together

If I didn't drive long distance so much and if I didn't need to have something that can tow, I'd still be in the Ranger. I enjoy them, my needs have just grown. If I lived somewhere with better terrain and had the money, I'd keep the Ranger to make it a toy too.

Nice truck but have fun with the cam phasers, ticking exhaust manifold, faulty window switches, crappy timing components, etc....

Had two 04 f150s and BOTH ended up with same issues. i kept the white one i had in tip top shape and yet still developed every dang known 04-08 f150 issue there was.
The bad thing is, evidence n after all that i still miss my white one. Nothing like driving a leveled out f150 on 34s. 20" wheels and a mean exhaust all whille looking sexy and sitting tall.

Not too worried about it. Like anything else, if an issue develops I'll take care of it. You can either worry and complain about problems in life or just handle them as them come. Cam phasers are a weekend job. I work for myself, so I have time whenever I want.

People said the same thing about these, and this was after 95k miles.

I'd hate to see that KR steering wheel leather if you drive with those hands.

the wheel is ruined. the top half is all cracked and black. Im going to try doing a couple "spa treatments" and conditioner but I have a feeling a stitch on cover will be needed. how does yours look?

It's dark but not cracked. I finally broke down and put a cover on it though because I'm paranoid about it getting that way. The leather really is very tough though if you keep it conditioned.

Ah, yeah thats how the rest of wheel is. I actually kind of like it, I wish the whole wheel was that way. I've also been thinking maybe I can sand and redye it like I see people do to leather seats, but I need to look into it.

Truck looks good man! Im jealous of your warm weather and lack of salt. My last F150 was that year and rusted.

Those spark plugs came out good for you for the mileage. Did you use an impact?

How much are you asking for your ranger?

btw this thread is already full of win, korey appears and win.

I'm going to drive it on the beach so it rusts, then paint it green and take pictures flexing. Yeah I used the impact on them and it worked great. The only reason I did it that way was actually because I remember you did it the same way on yours and had no problems lol. They were so bad that the truck would misfire just going over small overpasses. And not sure yet how much I'll be asking. It's really not worth very much.

Because I was stupid and too lazy to clean the engine bay before I did it.

Not a bad choice for a full size. I've seen plugs come out a lot worse than that.

The cam phasers will be fun if they ever go. I hear they're a pain in the *** to do.

People complain about the 5.4 issues, some worry about them to the point of paranoia but really if you take them as they come they are pretty minor and less common than some would like you to believe. Good looking truck, Im sure it will treat you well, I love my 5.4 3V F150!

BTW, for anyone interested I did a somewhat in depth write up on the plug change on a 3V 5.4. I also did the impact method with great results.
