Hopefully your new heater core fixes the issue and your done with it for a while and you can drive it another 100K without any issues.

I am running the Ford Gold Coolant with Bittering Agent. I plan to flush the coolant system twice a year from here on out. Maybe CAT ELC next time around.

Oh yeah? Make sure you flush it out well. I suppose you are going to run that with the new coolant filter? Let me know how you like it.

I plan to do it all at once. Coolant filter, new oil cooler, EGR delete, and a couple of other small stuff. Gonna do it all as preventive maintanence, since I don't think I have a problem yet. My Edge Insight will be here soon though so I'll know for sure.

Well I put some of this in my Ranger build thread but figured I might as well keep this thread rolling. haha

I just hauled the ranger again to Nick's and got around 10mpg running in 20 degree weather through the mountains id say i averaged 65-70mph. Not too bad considering the ranger sits so high on the trailer. I ran into snow, ice, heavy winds etc... Not exactly the best time to travel.

Unfortunately this happened on the way down, something hit me not sure what. Insurance is coming to look at it this week. Hopefully they cover some of it. My first claim in 10 years of driving. :(

Snagged this picture on my way home though it looked pretty cool but it really didnt come out that well on the iPhone. On the way home i changed tunes to my Spartan 250 hp race tune... haha what a blast. It rarely downshifted in the mountains and there were a few times i got pedal happy and it broke the tires loose through first, second and third gears pulling the gooseneck. I was kinda shocked. but it was fun.

I don't think Zach owns that trailer, just borrowing it.

Yeah that trailer isnt mine, I wish though. Its my cousins it gets used pretty frequently and he likes to keep it inside. So it had to come home.

Well I have almost fully committed to that oil cooler setup I posted earlier. I am getting a few more details and I think I am trucking over to Maryland to get it installed. I still cant make up in my mind if that is a wise choice or to just trade the thing off.

This is probably me showing my Diesel stupidity, but what does that get you? Is it something like an intercooler?

it cools the oil. diesels make heat, and you have to cool the oil. the stock oil cooler cools the oil by the coolant. Well if the coolant is contaminated it will plug the cooler and you cannot control the oil temp. since I am on my 3rd oil cooler in the last 7 months. i am wanting to buy this newly released air oil cooler. no longer uses coolant to cool the oil. the shop that designed it now sees temps around 160 versus the 200+ i see. which anything over 230 destroys the oil.
